CYDIA

Cydia is an application that allows you to add other applications to your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

A stock devices comes with many applications from Apple like: Messages, Calendar, Photos, Camera, YouTube, Stocks, Maps, Weather, Clock, Calculator, Notes, Settings, iTunes, App Store, Phone, Mail, Safari, Voice Recorder, Compass and iPod.

Cydia is similar to the App Store in that it will allow you to add many more applications such as: games, networking applications, productivity applications…etc. It also allows you to change the look of your iPhone. You can select from a variety of themes that change your icons, wallpaper, dock and status bar. You can even use an application called WinterBoard to changes things like your dialer keypad, your Chat bubbles, the color of the WiFi and Signal bars…etc.

Now fun part began
How to Install an Application using Cydia

When you jailbroke your iPhone/iPod Touch the Cydia application was added to your iPhone/iPod Touch automatically. It was added to your SpringBoard with the rest of the stock applications like Calendar, Maps, Weather etc.

Below are steps on how you can add applications to your iPhone/iPod Touch using Cydia.

1. Find the Cydia application on your SpringBoard.

2. Tap on the Cydia icon. This will open the Cydia application.

3. Select the Sections option on the lower menu bar.

4. This will open a list of all the categories for Applications. All the applications are broken up into relevant categories such as; games, utilities, multimedia etc.

5. Select a Category.

6. You will then get a list of all the applications in that category. They are in alphabetical order.

7. Select an applications. This will open a screen with all the information about that application including; the name of the application, the version, the author of the application, a description of the application, more information about the application, the package ID, the section the application is in, the maintainer of the application and the source information for the application.

8. Select Install in the upper right corner.

9. This will bring up a pop-up window in which you will need to confirm that you would like to Install the application. You can do so by selecting Confirm in the upper right corner. You can also choose to Cancel the install by selecting Cancel in the upper left corner.

10. Wait for the application to Install.

11. Once the application is finished installing, you will have one of two options at the bottom of the screen, Return to Cydia or Respring SpringBoard. Either way, tap on the option.

12. If the option at the bottom of the install screen was Return to Cydia, you will be brought back to the application information page, you can then select the Home Button on your iPhone.

13. Find the applications on your SpringBoard.
