So it's clear am looking for an app where we could keep a track of books read or in progress, the way there are apps to keep track of TV shows and movies.

As Eddiejf321 said use Goodreads app - it is a bit clunky as an app but is still good.

Do we have to be in the reading community in Goodreads or our personal self for keeping the track because I don't want to share my track with others, just for me so that I know I have read what books and what to read.

I liked My Library app more than Book Catalogue. With this app you can get some statistics as well. However, I personally stick to Goodreads.
