I have become aware that recently the site has become rife with rumours, conspiracy theories and gossip about myself, Guy, contests and for all I know the invasion of the pod people. Guy and I may have had philosophical differences but we are still friends. In fact a few days ago I was speaking to his lovely wife and expressed the hope that next time I was in their part of the world I could call in for coffee. Not exactly pistols at dawn is it? The only issue here is that after Guy's prolongued absence, the section was reorganised and a section head was voted. We have the situation at present that Guy has one view of what he wants to see and I and the rest of the team have a different view. The solution which has been amicably agreed upon is that Guy will run his games in Free Talk/Games and Contests will continue as in the past. This does not mean that either of us is right or wrong, it just means that we have bewildered some of the members for not explaining it sooner. I wish Guy all the best in Free Talk/Games and would ask the members to feel no hesitation in posting in both sections. I would stress that we are not in competition and there will be no duplicate contests in the two sections.

Right.

Maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to make Free Games accessible directly from Contests ? It is kindof buried in mobilisms' dungeons currently.

I would like to suggest that the admins consider a subforum of the Free Talk / Games section for "Guy's Games" ?

Currently the games section topics are (poorly) divided by [headers] in their titles, and it's confusing to look for what you want to play.
I feel that having a subforum for Guy's games would make things less confusing; Guy would have all his games in one spot and the games forum could return to being freely played games for fun.

Thank you for considering my suggestion. :)

Please all note that the Games in Free Talk are not part of this section and therefore any comments or suggestions regarding the Games in Free Talk should be posted there. Thank you

Thank you for this statement, Sherlockx.

Let me tell a little history. Long ago, it was the time gentlemen didn't secretly hope to be invited for coffee by women behind their man's back, we created contests. It grew. People were enthusiast, as there was now a way to gather WRZ$ which was needed for requests, and donating to each other as a gift, without having to release apps and books. It grew. My English got better, I learned to work with spreadsheets, became a specialist in two-finger typing. I created. More and more. Lifehacker said I'd better concentrate on my existing contests, but I couldn't resist. I was thinking of new contests, new challenges, new games while i was jogging, while repairing bicycles, even in my sleep. Enthusiasm made me blind. LH understood this was my thing, and suggested I should get help. Little by little people joined me and we became a team. Still, I couldn't resist creating more contests, and more people had to join to get the work done. My contests, my life, my drug. My mistake. The biggest mistake I made is that I was so busy creating, managing and updating my contests that I totally lost contact with the team that made it possible for me to do so, while managing the other stuff i made before. I selfishly drove my own way, totally ignoring the people around me. I was so busy I didn't even take the time to chat (come to IRC, Guy? Yes, later; and I never came) I found it more important that people didn't have to wait for updates. Something had to happen. I could have crashed, directors saw it coming, and acted. They removed me for the best of the team, as they voted they couldn't work this way any more. I was moved to another section. They were right. Despite many commented and reacted to what seemed to be an injustice, I understood it was a release. A solution to keep everybody happy: my team doesn't have to suffer any more from my selfish behavior, and my rather sarcastic attitude, and I can do what i like most; creating and managing, without having to give account to anyone. As Sherlockx says: this is not a competition, but a good solution to keep everyone happy. So, once more, my apologies to everyone i offended, or left uncertain about what was happening. I honestly intended to always do what is good for the forum and this whole community. So please keep playing in contests, support my baby, its' the most wonderful place on this forum, and I'm proud I have once be part of it.

Do mods or admins make a note of who won with their answers when they tally up the posts after a round?

All contests are different. Are you asking about any particular one?

In general. I asked because I was wondering if volunteering would be easier if long contest results were given a list of winners to make donating/paying out easier.

You can always make your own list. I do when I pay out rewards

I should clarify. Say there are 120 answers in a contest. 47 of those are correct. Each page has 15 posts on it. You have to go through nearly 9 pages to collect all the names of the people who won. Which takes a lot of time. I was wondering if admins or mods make a list when they're tallying up who won before they say

47 x 30 + 40 for you, etc.

It would be easier if we could set custom post amounts to display on pages. Like set it to show 50 posts per page in our user cp.

I think that's kind of the point of asking for people to volunteer to donate the rewards... It's to help the mods and Contests Managers, and let them focus on something else than time-consuming rewarding, not solely to help the volunteers gain even more WRZ$ ;)

Sometimes I make a list, sometimes I don't, it depends on the contest. I suspect the others do the same. Mostly though my list is on a bit of paper next to my keyboard

We are aware of the work involved in some rewarding tasks and pay the volunteer fee bearing that in mind ;)
