Discuss Android apps here.

Hi

Recently I got into Android Emulators just to see what's the state of Emulation in 2023 and did comprehensive testing of my Android games collection across various Android Emulator configurations.

Given that this is my favorite Android community I'm sharing my test results here.

Hope you can find this useful.

NOTE:

- I will update this over time when I test more games. There is no ETA for updating.
- I would appreciate if this was a thread for my testing only. There won't be much point of adding "I tested this and works also here" comments as this is my testing results list so best start a separate thread for yours.
- First results will include 5 emulator setups. Following results will include only 3 emulator setups as I will remove the 2 least compatible Emulators from my rig to reduce the time needed for future testing.
- Given the sheer amount of game titles involved being just one person I can not accept any game requests. So there's no point in writing comments "can you give me a link to this or that apk". Most APKs are available with a simple google search anyway these days. The purpose of this thread is to focus on Android Emulator compatibility for various titles and not about releasing content.
- Most of the game titles are unlocked / patched versions with few requiring Modded Google store and a couple of MOD releases. I didn't indicate this anywhere as most of the time it has no impact on compatibility anyway - except the releases requiring Google Play store which obv you won't be able to run on a setup without it.

PS.
IF by a remote chance someone wants to "Project Eris" this and say take an Emulator like BlueStacks and mod it (or build an emulator from ground up?) and then put all the games on the list into one big package to come preinstalled with that emulator... IF someone would want to undertake a project of such magnitude, then yes, that is the exception where I am here ready to be contacted, help with testing (for credits in the project) and then I'm willing to share the whole collection I have. But only if someone is actually building such an Android Emulator release (who knows, maybe this site admins would be interested as they could then monetize it in a form of a shop or whatnot, just spit-balling ideas here, I myself am too busy with other stuff to do that at the moment).

Rooting:

For non BlueStacks emulators root is a simple setting in the emulator settings.
For BlueStacks Nougat it's easy to root with BSTweaker (Google it).
BlueStacks Pie is a bit trickier, as you need to do it with Magisk instead of BSTweaker alone.

---Results---

First results (With 5 emulator setups - BS, NOX, Xe, MeMu, MeMu) - Deprecated (won't be updated)

Current results (With 3 emulator setups - BS, BS, Xe) - Active (will be updated in future)

Points explained:

Every test gets points.
0 = Game didn't launch, force closed, wouldn't install, couldn't be played or had graphic glitches or no sound. In some cases Emulated controls (for tilt for example) couldn't be set to make game playable.
1 = Game was fully playable. (Within reason, i.e this doesn't mean you'll be able to play online on an official server using a patched game or get Google Play achievements, it simply means game works as it would on Android device)
2 = Double the points for a title being an "Exclusive" only working on that particular setup out of all tested.

Currently most compatible Android Emulator setup overall (most points in total) is:
Xe (4.4.2) Root LuckyPatcher ModdedGooglePlay

Currently the Android Emulator setup with most exclusive titles is:
Xe (4.4.2) Root LuckyPatcher ModdedGooglePlay

That`s a good comparison, ever thought of using Windows Subsystem For Android? The lack of a keymapper and playstore is a shame but having everything integrated in the system is cool , this project gives prebuilt versions on wsa with Google apps and a root solution of your choice (magisk or kernelsu): https://github.com/MustardChef/WSABuilds/

Thanks for the heads up.

I'll look into it when I get some free time. If only to see if the performance / compatibility is better than Android Studio emulation.
