I had an LG G3 phone with a Snapdragon 801 chipset and an Adreno 330 GPU. I could play games like Godfire: Rise of Prometheus and Republique without any issues.

I wanted an upgrade (better CPU: octacore instead of a quadcore - more RAM: 4Gb instead of 2Gb - bigger screen, etc.) so I got a Xiaomi Mi Max 2. This one has a Snapdragon 625 chipset and an Adreno 506 GPU.
I presumed that a 506 is better than a 330 but I was wrong. Godfire is incompatible with this phone. The graphics look incomplete, low res.
There's a similar issue with Republique. The shadows and lighting are not as realistic as they should be.
And another issue is that the games seem to be lacking antialiasing.

If Mi Max is supposed to be better than LG G3 then how come it's graphics are so lame? If a 506 is worst than an old 330, then which Adreno is suitable for gaming?
Is it about the Adreno or the company? If I get a Samsung phone or another LG with a 506, will it work better or the same?

Usually the Adreno GPU used in flagship devices are much better than those found in mid-range and budget grade devices.
