I had a pc notebook with all of my iTunes music downloaded to it. No I did not back it up. My hard drive fried yesterday. How can I upload the music from my ipad to the main computer? Also is there any way I can get my downloaded music from iTunes?

If your ipad music bought via iTunes that you can transfer the music back to computer.It supports all apple device included ipad.You need exchange a new hard-disk drive,and sync music files again.
Besides what mentioned above, you also refer this article about how to transer or sync iPad contents to PC.

You can easily transfer you all music with apples itunes and it will give your complete music back up on your ipad.

Well, Just using iTunes, you can't transfer music from computer to new iPad 2 without syncing. But with some phone transfers tool, you can not only copy music from computer to iPad by a simple click, but also transfer all files from iPad to computer, or transfer media files from iPad to iTunes directly.

In fact, you can also transfer music from iPad to computer via AirDrop, you don't even need an USB cable.

Your basic problem is file transfer so, I will suggest you to try once files-finder edition. I hope it will work for you.
