Overview: Beth Myers is a twenty-six-year-old waitress working at a diner in Scottsdale, Arizona. She feels her life is going nowhere and she is desperate for a fresh start. Then one day, a handsome stranger named Doug Haynes comes into the diner. He is sexy, smooth, and charming. Beth is instantly smitten with him, but she sworn to stay under the radar as much as possible. With her situation, she can’t afford to get involved with anyone.
One day a madman comes into the diner waving a gun to rob the place. Hearing police sirens in the distance fast approaching, the maniac becomes agitated and points his pistol at Beth ready to fire, until Doug wrestles him to the ground and knocks him unconscious. It turns out, Doug is the newest member of the Scottsdale Police Department, newly arrived from Chicago.
As Doug comforts Beth in the aftermath of the robbery, they form a friendship which eventually turns into a romance.
