I'd highly recommend the Jane Whitefield series by Thomas Perry. She's basically a female Jack Reacher!

I would also enthusiastically endorse Barry Eisler's John Rain as well as the novels by Brad Thor, Vince Flynn, Robert Crais, Thomas Perry's Butcher Boy series, the Parker series, Travis McGee, and the Quiller novels. All of these are action-charged and full of nail-biting suspense.

Oh I almost forgot the Jet novels by Russell Blake and his assassin series... in fact all of his work is amazing.

If your looking for a good series try Steven James Patrick Bowers series..He's a good story teller. & William W. Johnstone is a good story teller I read these two and both were page turners. A Dangerous man,& Forty Times A Killer. After you have read a good book its sometimes hard to find one to top it or be as good.

You could give the John Milton series a try by Mark Dawson, he is a recovering alcoholic who used to be an assassin for the British Government and now is trying to make amends for his past by wandering the world and helping people

Michael Kerr... Joe Logan series, 5 books in series thus far. Essentially a clone of Jack Reacher.

That said they are quite decent.

swipey wrote:Jack Reacher is actually based on a character Spenser, a series of 40 novels by Robert B. Parker.

The books are old (think the first one, The Godwulf Manuscript, is 1973) but Parker makes PI Spenser witty and funny as opposed to Reacher's dry and blunt manner. Plot's are just as entertaining and the character really develops throughout the series.

I have them all in mobi format; if anyone is interested, I'll post up links!

My husband would be very grateful for these. Many thanks.

Try Mark Dawson, a newish author. John Milton series is about a British ex government assassin trying to make amends by helping people so similar theme to Jack Reacher. The spin off characters Beatrix Rose and Isabella Rose are equally good. Probably around 20 books in total so plenty to keep you busy. I have the whole set that I can post up if you are interested if I can work out how to do it

Lee Child's real name is James D. "Jim" Grant, his younger brother is also an author, their writing may be similar. His name is Andrew Grant, I have a few of his books but have not had a chance to read them yet.
