The lead character's name is Quinn perhaps. I could be wrong about that. He used to be a gunman for the IRA. He's been to prison for his actions. He's coaxed out of retirement to rescue a man. Quinn doesn't like this guy because he's the type of man who "shoot's people in the back". The first scene is an IRA man and a younger man coming to Quinn to coax him out of retirement for one last job. I could be wrong about the name Quinn- I read the book back in 2002, so my memory could be playing tricks on me. I think the front cover had a green duffel bag with the butt end of a shotgun sticking out with red shotgun shells visible.
