This is tormenting me from months now. I read this novella a few years ago. It was part of a Christmas Regency bundle book together with two or three other novellas. The plot is basically this: Daughter of a Peer makes out with an officer and panicking after she thinks is pregnant confesses to her mother. The mother using her influence sends the officer on the first line of the peninsula war. A few years later the officer is now an Earl and it’s invited to a Christmas house party at the girl house. The mother is dead and they have to work on their misunderstanding.
