First, you can buy goods made in Ukraine to support Ukrainian businesses or donate to initiatives you care about.

Second, this week (December 4, 2023), the White House warned that the US is set to run out of funds to aid Ukraine by the end of the year, saying a failure by Congress to approve new support would "kneecap" Ukraine and increase "the likelihood of Russian military victories." Meanwhile, on the Hill, negotiations over the bill to fund Ukraine have stalled in both the Senate and House, with both parties tied up in a battle over border security.

We urgently ask Americans to call your Representatives, especially in the House, and demand that aid to Ukraine passes.

Until the past few days I would have thought my interest in things Ukrainian would remain limited to the gallons of borscht and mountains of pierogis I've downed through the years at Veselka in the East Village or rounding out a late night in Brighton Beach.

I've been disgusted watching Putin's initial posturing and present invasion being met with what seems to be a lukewarm and feeble response by the global community - and I'd been at a loss for something remotely tangible to do personally other than adding a face at one of the local demonstrations.

Thank you for putting together a cogent letter to send to our politicians - I hope that collectively we add to the pressure on those in the capacity to enact a truly effective response.
