Overview: Terrible abuses of ordinary people, even whole groups of ordinary people, continue without end. It is the assumption of this book that human rights are real, arising from the reality of human dignity, a primordial reality known with certainty to all, prior to religious or theoretical explanation, though denied by sociopaths and ideologues. Because of this ontological reality, morally sane people immediately sense the ring of truth when Jesus taught us to love our neighbors as ourselves and to do unto others as we would have them do onto us. This naturally known universal ethical rule (described by many religious and philosophical teachers) provides the background and backbone for real human rights; it also provides the basis to question ideologies and pseudo-human rights claims.
